I first heard about Medjugorje when I was in college, when I was learning what Marian apparitions are.

I lived with a bunch of Catholic guys, and one of my roommates was telling me about this place called Medjugorje. I didn’t really go too deep into it. It wasn’t until years later that it came on my radar to actually come.

My friends were coming on this trip, and I was like, “I love Mary so I’m gonna go.”

I really didn’t have any expectations coming into it. I was just coming in with an open heart. Wherever the Spirit wanted to lead me, I was ready to run with it. It’s definitely exceeded my wildest expectations, I guess because I had no idea what to expect. It’s been great.

It was a rejuvenating experience for me to really dive deeply into prayer and have this time away from the normal hustle of life to recenter myself on Christ.

It’s been very transformative. It’s been beautiful. I love it.

I did really like the five stones of Medjugorje. I think that is something that’s really impacted me and something I’m definitely going to implement into my life in those areas where I haven’t haven’t done it.

It’s Daily Rosary, reading Scripture every day, minimum monthly confession, go to Mass on Sunday, but go to Mass more than just Sunday, and then the last one was prayer and fasting on bread and water on Wednesdays and Fridays.

I think that one will be the hardest. I’ll probably start slow.

Last night, Mary called for a nine day rosary novena, and so we went up Apparition Hill for Marija to receive her apparition, not at her normal time, but at 11:30 p.m. last night.

I’d never been to a Marian apparition before. It was really cool to see people from all different walks of life come in to pray and ask for the Blessed Mother’s intercession, pray for peace and and to be present at such a holy place and have Her be present to us in that tangible way.

I was praying. I knew I was in a really holy moment. There was quiet. There was peace. I knew it was good. I didn’t need to see or sense anything for me to be there and know of the Holy Mother’s love for me.

I work as a civil engineer. Engineers do better with metaphysics and whatnot because if you think about it, engineers do a lot of math, and you don’t see math. It’s kind of like this intangible thing. So I do think the engineer mind can grasp metaphysical realities better.
