Kevin – Dublin, Ireland

I did Križevac barefoot because my mother is in the hospital with dementia.

The family are thinking of putting her into a home, but my mother doesn’t want to go into a home. I think she is improving and getting better. I’m hoping that she gets better enough that she can go back home. She’s nearly 86, and she has a lot of health complications.

I’m just hoping that this will have the grace to help my mother.

I had a conversion in 2006. I had a massive conversion. I had an illumination of conscience.

I was a guy that would drink and do drugs. I was going into the hospital, and, at the time, I wasn’t getting along great with the family, you know?

It was like I was in heaven. These people held my hands, and I thought it was my family. But when I looked, there was white. It was like we were in a massive circle holding hands.

Then I looked and saw Jesus in the center and saw unbelievable love. So I ran towards him. It was the most joy I’ve had in my life. I’ve never had a dream like this ever.

I ran towards Jesus. It was like He was directing everyone singing and dancing around. This thought came to my head, “Why won’t He look at me?”

As soon as I thought that, every sin I’d ever done hit me like a train. I was flipped upside down, and I was going down to hell. I was falling. The clouds were shooting by me. I was screaming.

Then I just stopped in the middle of the air upside down, and I woke up.

So I went into the hospital and got my life together. I joined the Legion of Mary in Dublin. I visited a massive rehabilitation hospital every week with a priest. I have a men’s prayer meeting in my flat on Thursday nights. We say 15 decades.

Before I went into hospital someone gave me a tape of a testimony about Medjugorje. I listened to it and started crying. It was about a drug addict who ended up over here and he started cleaning the rubbish off the hill. He got sort of healed. He ended up getting married.

Where I was from, I didn’t know anyone that had gotten their life together so I thought I had a death sentence. When I heard this testimony, I started crying.

Three months later, I’m over here in 2006.

I’ve been here about 16 or 17 times.

Now I have to catch this Mass.
