I first heard about Medjugorje less than a month ago from deacon. He said, “We’re going to Medjugorje.”

“Okay!” That’s what I said. I wanted to go on the same flight. I wanted to be with the tour guide. They know where they’re going. I tried to book my flight from the flight numbers he gave me. I could not find them.

I said, “Well, your flight was all sold out.”

We left it at that. He just said, “Okay.”

Then we had Hearts of Praise on Tuesday night, and he’s probably praying and I’m going to change my mind when we finish. He went back to his car and he said, “I’ll look for a flight for you.”

When I came home we were on the phone, we were looking for a flight, and I booked myself—that quick. I did not think it was possible.

Mother Mary was calling me.

I had heard bits and pieces about Medjugorje. I started reading, did not even know how to spell Medjugorje or how to pronounce it. But I’m learning.

I tried to come with an open mind and not to expect a lot of things. I just know that I will be healed, my knees especially, all the intentions that I have for my family, close friends, Legion of Mary, all the people that I know that I could remember and all the people that I love that have passed that God will continue to welcome them into His kingdom if they’re not there yet, and all the poor souls in Purgatory that do not have anyone to pray for them.

It’s amazing. You don’t know the words, you just need to experience it. Open your heart. Open your mind.

I am very close to Mother Mary and to Jesus, closer now. How am I going to do three Rosaries in one day? But I will do it.

I prayed and am praying for my family’s intentions. And my siblings said they’re praying for me to get through this because they know how I struggle with my knees.

My grandson said, “Grandma, how do you do your exercise again?” He doesn’t tell me, “You do your exercise.” He just says, “How do you do your exercise again?” So I show him. Then he said, “We’re going to do some walking before your pilgrimage.” I said, “Okay!” We really did not do a lot, but just for him to encourage me.

What are you going to tell your grandson about your trip?

Everything, but not all in one day. I’m going to feed him just like I fed him daily. One thing we’re going to set a rule to encourage him, I’m going to open the Bible on the dining table. I have him five nights a week. Two nights he spends his mom at night. That’s what we’re going to do, open the Bible and we will read.

Mother Mary is good to me, very good to me.
