Marty – Omaha, Nebraska

It is my first time in Medjugorje. I heard about it a long time ago, but I was raising my family. It wasn’t until just lately that it really piqued my interest.

Medjugorje is challenging but peaceful. You are challenged spiritually to grow, to look at yourself, and to figure out where the Lord and Mary want you to go, which way. And yet, a feeling of acceptance, not judgmentally, just, okay, I should be doing more in certain ways, like fasting. But it’s not a judgment. It’s a suggestion.

I thought I didn’t have expectations, but then you always have that in your heart that, “Yeah, maybe I’ll see her. Maybe something will happen.” And yet, inside I’m saying, “No, it’s no big deal.” It’s both ways.

I love the Masses, and I particularly like adoration at Oasis of Peace. I would love to go back there and just sit there and listen. Try to listen.

I think a lot of things have become clear. One of the things is, “I will guide you. Don’t worry about it.” Mary and Jesus both.

I would encourage people to come with an open heart and have their feelings of love for the Mother and Jesus especially. Just let it happen.

It all depends on how open your heart is. If you’re bound and determined not to take in what she is giving, how much or how little, then it would be difficult. Now, if there’s skeptical and they’re open, I think they would find what they’re looking for.

I’ll take away a feeling of peace. I’m loved for who I am, and yeah, I can get better, but I’m still loved where I’m at.

I’m still a work in progress. I’m just glad that the Lord has given me 74 years to grow in my faith, to mature, and I know I’m not done, but I’m sure looking forward to being at His feet, kissing His feet.
